Introduction to Learning Disability
in Children and Young People

Introduction

This half-day course is designed to help you gain an understanding of learning disability as a diagnosis. We will consider causes, development and support needs in a general sense, and also clarify the different terminology used, which can cause confusion.

 

Aim

To increase awareness and understanding of learning disability.

 

Training methods

PowerPoint presentation and group discussions.

 

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, you'll be able to describe:
What a learning disability is
What causes a learning disability
The implications of having a diagnosis of learning disability

 

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for anyone working with children and young people who is interested in finding out about learning disability.
 
Please note: priority will be given to people working with children, young people and their families in Fife.
